Stand guard at the door of your mind. What is the story you tell yourself, over and over again? The disempowering story that drains your energy and saps your moral? In which area of your life does it play out?
Our stories control what we focus on, our stories make us generalize, select and distort what we see, hear and feel. Change your story – you change your life. Here ‘s my suggestion, with three practical steps to help you disengage from your story.
Step 1: YOUR BODY
Your body is your first resource, always available. So stand up and move, jump, take a 15 minutes walk, a run or dance to shake off these thoughts – it will bring oxygen to your brain (as a Yoga Instructor I can share a lot about the power of breathing). Moving the body awakens your Life energy, and when you feel alive in your body, you are brought back to the Present.
If you are at work and can’t really take a break for a workout or a dance, CHANGE YOUR BODY POSTURE NOW: so sit straight, spine long, chest up, lift your arms and streeeetch. Breathe deeply, 5 times at least.
Step 2: YOUR MIND
Asking yourself these supportive questions will help you access your inner resources:
What do I love in my life now?
Who do I love in my life now?
What makes me feel motivated, excited?
What brings me the most joy?
What am I proud of in my life today? …
Step 3: YOUR SOUL
The voice telling a disempowering story is certainly NOT the voice of your Soul.
Ask yourself, what would your Soul say about your situation?
We make plans… and Life decides what happens. From a wider angle, which empowering meaning can you give to the situation ?… Enough for today (even if there is more)… Tell me what works for you –> add your comments below.
