Five years? Yes! This is my fifth year with my coach. Coaching has become a fixed cost, or more accurately,
This was the key insight I shared in my interview with the brilliant Jenny Rachel Kollmann of FranZine Media Suisse.
Be Your own Love. Forget Valentine!
This is a rant against what I consider as an extremely boring, artificial and superficial day. Valentine is about everything but love. Valentine creates stress, pressure, competition and comparisons about having a date, buying or receiving flowers, cards, being invited or booking a restaurant, it is about “getting” attention or “getting that girl”. Valentine divides the world in two categories: those who have a date and those who don’t (how unfortunate, there must be something wrong with them)… No really, let’s stop the BS. Can you not give a F… about Valentine’s day and be free?
I always looked at Valentine’s day with disdain and a mocking smile, and it will stay the same even if I am now married and in love with my dear husband.
Because Valentine’s day contributes to one of the biggest lies in this society : “Romantic love is the ultimate formula to happiness”.
I disagree. Romantic love only makes you happy if you take charge of your happiness.
You are the source of your love. Nobody can “make you happy”.
You’re here to love yourself first.
Just like you put the oxygen mask on yourself first, in the airplane.
And what does it means to truly love yourself ?
I have a couple unpopular but extremely useful examples. Loving yourself could look like :
– You meet yourself where you are at, happy or not.
– You embrace difficult emotions with curiosity and you listen for their message.
– You look for the lessons (and the juice) when life brings you lemons
– You stop acting as the emotional care-taker of other adults.
– You love yourself when you’re not fulfilling other people’s expectations.
– You forgive yourself for judging yourself as less than or not enough. You see the truth of who you are : perfectly imperfect.
– You listen to your Soul’s calling and you take action, one step at a time.
– You remember that life happens for you… in fact, whatever happens TO you also happens FOR you.
You remember that you are your own person, whole and complete.
Single, married or everything in between or not, YOU are the source of your love and of your happiness.
